Since the inception of the parent organization in ‘05, my sister Deborah I wanted to make a difference in our local community by partnering with nonprofit organizations.
We imagined nonprofit organizations providing the services of their mission to the community without expending energy and resources searching around for items they need.
What we knew then and continues to be proven is that there is more than enough to go around and people want to give to those in need.
I’ll never forget Richard Navarette of Austin, Texas who built our first database that was generously funded by Tom and Carol Sargent. Within the first 11 months of launching DonorsResource.org, 265 nonprofits registered and 5,000 items were claimed.
In March 2012 Susan Spalding of Louisville Kentucky read the article about our work in the national publication, Family Circle Magazine and contacted us about expanding DonorsResource.org in her area. We "clicked" from our first chat and the rest is history.
Operations in Oregon came to an end December 31, 2013. I am elated that our mission continues thanks to the work of Susan and our friends at the Center of Nonprofit of Excellence in Louisville.
This journey has been nothing short of amazing. I’m most proud of how this technology provides ample opportunity for communities to grow and thrive through giving and serving.
Paying it forward,
Della Rae, Founder
