About the Founder
With more than eleven years in the insurance and finance industry, Della’s passion to work in the nonprofit sector began with serving more than three years on the board of the North Portland Nurse Practitioners Clinic and becoming president of its board.
In 2005 Della realized the magnitude of poverty in the Portland area and co-founded Sisters of the Community (SOC) a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization with her sister, Deborah Waggoner. After distributing over 20,000 items within 18 months, the need for an online solution was realized and launched.
April of 2007 Della formed DonorsResource.org, a registered trademark of Sisters of the Community. In 11 months, over 240 nonprofits registered and 7,007 items claimed.
June of 2009, Della formed TimeandStuff.org, also a registered trademark of Sisters of the community and an online collaboration with HandsOn Greater Portland, a local affiliate of a national nonprofit organization.
Della’s professional awards include ’07 Regence BlueCross BlueShield Hero Award, ’08 Portland Business Journal 40 under 40 Award, ’08 SAFECO Foundation National Hero Award, ’09 Delta Sigma Theta Woman of Excellence Community Service Award and ‘09 Symetra Community Champion Award.
A Portland native, Della is passionate about bringing people together for the common good.
