Immediate Press Release
Lake Oswego & Portland, Oregon, April 17, 2008 — DonorsResource.org, an online hub that connects donors and nonprofit organizations, today announced the launch of the DonorsResource.org Virtual Warehouse, a website feature that enables donors and nonprofits to give and receive goods online.
Online donations via credit card have gained wide acceptance in recent years among nonprofit organizations and donors. However, online services for donating items such as clothing and furniture have remained less common. DonorsResource.org Virtual Warehouse is designed to meet this growing need.
Through DonorsResource.org Virtual Warehouse, individuals can donate goods online to specific nonprofit organizations and causes. Only accredited 501(c)(3) nonprofits can claim posted items. Donors can post goods belonging to 27 different categories including books, clothing, furniture, household goods, and school supplies. By default, postings are anonymous, assuring that the donor's identity is protected.
Nonprofit organizations can browse the virtual warehouse to find goods they need. After a donation is claimed, the donor then has the choice of contacting the nonprofit.
DonorsResource.org Virtual Warehouse includes a function that produces a confidential summary of donation history suitable for tax deduction.
"This online tool gives people the option to direct their donated items to causes and organizations they support," says Della Rosenthal, founder of DonorsResource.org. "With this feature, the donation process is faster and easier for both donors and nonprofits."
Details of the service are available at www.donorsresource.org. Nonprofits in Oregon and Washington are encouraged to sign up for free to use the service.
